TIREDNESS

Most of my clients complain of lack of energy. In fact, people in general especially during this time of the year complain of this. You would commonly know this as “Winter Blues”

We definitely have more energy when it’s warmer however, we have to find a way round this as we have winter every year unfortunately!

There are a few remedies to follow to boost your energy levels:

  • Eat Right: The saying “You are what you eat” is so true. Try eating foods that will boost your energy levels and not slow you down. Bananas, water, apples, sweet potatoes etc. for example are good energy sources (source: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/energy-boosting-foods)
  • Exercise: Engaging in exercise on a regular basis releases endorphins in the brain which will in turn increase your energy levels. Try exploring an activity that you enjoy such as walking, jogging, exercise classes e.g. Pilates, yoga etc. Remember, little and often is key.
  • Find and use your passion: What are you passionate about? Once you know what this is, convert this passion into a purpose. This will generate energy. For example, I am very passionate about all forms of Yoga. I practice pretty much every day even after a late night. I still manage to squeeze in a quick 15minutes practice to get me started for the day. “What will get you out of bed in the morning?”Find that thing and get out of bed for it!

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR CAREER DIRECTION/FOCUS

As January comes to a close, most of us are still looking out for that Big Change of the year 2019. One perhaps, we were not able to achieve in 2018.

The most common is often Career Change. Thinking about moving on or changing careers entirely? This can be quite daunting. A new job may mean New People, New Environment, New Challenges… Basically everything! New, scary and not necessarily with a salary increase!!

Here are a few points to consider before making this change:

• Are you happy in your current job?

• Do you want to do something new that you are passionate about?

• Can you afford a reduced salary?

Whatever you decide, it is definitely worth considering what your priorities are, as you may not be able to afford your passion for now if it results in a pay cut. There will definitely be more to think of before making this change. Just remember that you spend more time at work then you do anywhere else. So if you are not happy at work then this means that most of the day you are unhappy. Is this enough for you?

If you are considering this change, make sure you write down your thoughts including the pros and cons of moving or staying. What is the effect on your life and others if you do or don’t make this change. Don’t worry if you can’t make that change immediately, it could be work in progress and a change that you work towards, for the future.

I’ll leave you with this parting thought;
